In response to requests from our citizens, the city of Boca Raton has compiled the following information about iguanas:
Do not feed iguanas.
Avoid planting Impatiens or Mango trees.
A garlic spray (available at garden centers) may discourage iguanas.
Please do not call the Police, Humane Society, or other government agencies – they are not equipped to deal with iguanas.
Palm Beach County Animal Care and Control (561) 276-1344 will offer assistance to dispose of captured iguanas.
The City's Purchasing Division requested proposals from local licensed trappers who will remove iguanas in a humane manner. Note that most “pest control” companies will not deal with iguanas. Here is a list of licensed trappers who responded to the City's request for proposals. The City does not endorse these vendors in any way, and there may be other trappers who did not respond to the City's query. Consult your telephone directory for other trappers.:
