The City of Boca Raton provides several parks for picnic enjoyment. While pavilions are available on a first-come, first-served basis, it is suggested reservations be made in order to secure specific dates and times. Reservations may be made 90 days prior to actual date of the reservation. All special event picnics require reservations.

• Patrons may reserve pavilions at these sites for nominal fees. Fees are determined by residency status. Patron must present proof of residency at time of reservation. Patron must reserve and pay for pavilion in person.
• Reservations will not be held without payment. No partial payments.
• All sales are final; pavilion fee is non-refundable
• Alcoholic beverages are prohibited in any City of Boca Raton park.
• Animals, pets are prohibited in any City of Boca Raton park.
• Propane is prohibited in any City of Boca Raton park. All fires must be contained in charcoal grills. No open fires, wood fires, fireworks or sparklers are permitted within any City of Boca Raton park.
• Several park pavilions may accommodate “Special Events” provided all City of Boca Raton permits, rules and regulations are met. Special Event information is available upon request by calling 561-393-7824

The park is equipped with an extensive nature boardwalk system overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway. There is also a children’s playground at the south end. Explore Rutherford Park by canoe with Gumbo Limbo Nature Center. "Canoeing the Mangroves" is a 2-hour program offered from October through April. Some restrictions apply, reservations are required. See Gumbo Limbo's website for details.

There are 8 pavilions that may be reserved in this park. Each pavilion is equipped with charcoal barbeque grills and picnic tables. Pavilions #1, #2, #3 are equipped with electricity and are lighted upon request.

HOURS: 8:00am – 10:00pm Monday – Saturday • Sundays: 8:00am-Sunset
RENTAL FEE: Patrons may reserve any of the pavilions for a nominal fee. Fees are determined by residency status: Palm Beach County Residents: $16.00 per shelter. Non-residents of Palm Beach County: $48.00 per shelter
AVAILABILITY: Reservations must be made in person at the James A. Rutherford Community Center inside Patch Reef Park.

The pavilion is surrounded by grass with trees to the side and back. Pavilion has 2 large 10-seat tables within the pavilion with 1 large 32”x32” grill. There are 2 large10-seat tables surrounding the pavilion with 1 small 16”x22” grill. Pavilion has 2 electrical sockets; and 1 water fountain. Pavilion is lighted upon request. Special Event reservations may be made for this pavilion. May be combined with pavilions # 2 and #3. back to top

Pavilion has 2 large 10-seat tables with 1 large 32”x32” grill; 2 large 10-seat tables surround the pavilion with 1 small 16”x22” grill; a water tap is available. There is no electricity or lighting at this pavilion. Special event reservations may NOT be made for this pavilion. Adjacent to Pavilion #4 (across the walking path) is 3 large 10 seat tables with 3 small 16”x22” grills. These tables are first-come, first served and may not be reserved. back to top

Middle Section of Park: These pavilions are considered closest to the stage and are the only pavilions in Spanish River Park with electricity and the only pavilions that support bounce houses.
