Director of  Recreation Services Department

The Recreation Services Department, one of the largest City departments, provides wholesome family and individual leisure and recreation programs and services to residents. These services are provided through the City's well-maintained and operated parks system, municipal golf courses, tennis courts, and organized and sponsored recreation programs. The Recreator is a tri-annual publication that informs residents about current programs and classes that are being offered. It also lists City parks and recreational sites and the amenities offered at each.

The Library (Downtown and Spanish River locations), a division of Recreation Services, is an active educational, recreational, and cultural center offering a collection of over 275,000 items including books, magazines, newspapers, compact discs, DVDs, audiobooks, CD-ROMS, games, and much more. Additional services include reference databases, inter-library loans, diverse programs for children, literacy tutoring, Internet computers, and wireless Internet access. The Spanish River Library and Community Center offers additional services including a café and a gift shop, plus a number of rooms and facilities, both inside and outside, for meetings and events. A borrower's card may be obtained free of charge upon proof of residency in the City of Boca Raton.

Patrons can visit the Downtown Library at 200 N.W. Boca Raton Boulevard, the Spanish River Library and Community Center at 1501 NW Spanish River Boulevard, or call (561) 393-7852. Both libraries are open Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Library is closed on all legal holidays. Call (561) 393-7968 to arrange youth tours and (561) 393-7905 to schedule adult tours.
