The
Communications Division is a vital part of Fire and
Emergency Medical Services. Boca Raton Fire-Rescue
Services are dispatched through the City's 911 center,
located at the Police Services Department. All tele-communicators
are cross-trained in Fire, EMS and Police dispatch
procedures. The center operates four state-of-the-art
communication consoles and staffs three call taking
positions.
Each tele-communicator is also trained to provide Emergency
Medical Dispatch, "pre-arrival" instructions
to 911 callers.
A division chief serves as the manager of the communications
center, and is in charge of all the fire department's
communications. This position also develops procedures
and protocols for emergency service radio communications.
