The City of Boca Raton is accepting applications for the position of
"Firefighter/Paramedic"

Online Application Period will close at 5:00 PM Friday November 21, 2008.  The thirty nine page Background Investigation Packet MUST  be received by Human Resources No Later Than 5:00 PM December 5, 2008.  Background packets received after that time will not be considered for employment

We will only be hiring dual Certified Florida Firefighter and Certified Florida Paramedics. We will not accept applications from those candidates Certified as Florida Firefighter or Florida Paramedic that are currently enrolled in a course of study to complete the other certification.


EXCELLENT SALARY AND BENEFITS
$43,611.64/yr. Certified Firefighter
+6,923.06/yr. Certified Paramedic
$50,534.70/yr.

EXTRAORDINARY WORK SCHEDULE:
ONE DAY ON, THREE DAYS OFF

  • 100% employer paid, Employee Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
  • Vacation Leave: 101 - 176 hours accumulation per year
  • Sick Leave: Accrue 101 hours accumulation per calendar year
  • Holidays: Work holidays as part of regular tour of duty with choice of the following:
    • Additional 110 hours per year paid at regular rate of pay, or
    • Additional 110 hours of accrued annual leave, or
    • 55 hours paid at regular rate of pay and, 55 hours annual leave
  • Longevity Bonus: $600 - $1,000 - paid after completion of five (5) years of continuous service
  • Maintenance Allowances: $25 per month for uniforms and $5 per month for
    linens - paid semiannually
  • Tuition Reimbursement: 50% to 100% (depending on grade)
  • Safety Shoe Allowance: $125 per year, paid annually
  • Annual Increase on a step-based pay plan for satisfactory and above employee
  • Pension - 3.4% multiplier (max. 100%) with 20 or more years of service or age 55 w/10 years
  • COLA - 3%, DROP plan, and retirement supplement upon retirement
  • Retiree Health Insurance (VEBA program)
