Cholesterol & Blood Pressure Screening:
Blood DrawnTo encourage residents to lower their cholesterol level, free screenings are provided. Fire-Rescue Paramedics and Boca Raton Community Hospital Nurses check participants' blood pressures and collect blood samples. Laboratories at BRCH analyze the blood samples for cholesterol levels and mail the results back to the residents. Participants are provided nutritional information and suggestions on ways to reduce cholesterol levels. Screenings are held periodically at a variety of locations, including neighborhood Fire-Rescue stations throughout the community.

Home For The Holidays:  back to top
Welcome HomeThis program is designed for residents who live in a nursing facility and need special transportation to make it "home for the holidays". Boca Raton Fire - Rescue personnel generally pick up patients in the mid morning and return them to the nursing facility in the late afternoon. Boca Raton Community Hospital makes the event more memorable by supplying a holiday gift basket for the patient to present to their family. Holidays include: THANKSGIVING, CHANUKAH, and CHRISTMAS.

Youth Programs:  back to top
Children's Tour at the Boca Raton Community Hospital: Grades K-3 are given a tour of different areas of the Hospital with an appearance and demonstration by Boca Raton Fire-Rescue Paramedics. The purpose of our visit is to alleviate fears children may have if they need treatment at the hospital or require transport by Fire - Rescue. Paramedics have the children walk through the inside of a rescue unit, and they demonstrate some of its equipment. Cookies and milk are provided at the end of the tour.
