Trees
-
Generally
Disputes concerning trees that grow over property lines must be resolved between the property owners. It is the responsibility of the property owner to remove dead trees and to keep tree limbs trimmed back from streets and sidewalks (See: Tree - Pruning). Trees may be removed without a permit by the property owner at a single-family residence, except in designated historic districts. Before removing or pruning any tree, please call as a permit may be required. Permits may be obtained at the One-Stop Center on the main floor of City Hall. Tree removal at duplexes, apartment buildings, condominiums and commercial properties requires a tree-removal permit.
-
Pruning
Proper tree pruning is important for the health of the trees and essential to increase the resiliency of trees during the heavy winds of tropical storms or hurricanes. An instructive leaflet is available in the City Hall lobby or the City Clerk's office. Large pruning projects should be done by qualified and insured professionals that use the National Arborist Association Standards.

Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. Call the Recreation Services Department for additional information.
