Disabled Transportation

Reduced fares are offered on Palm Tran buses, and Spec Tran van service is available as a door-to-door service for those with special needs who are unable to use the standard Palm Tran system and qualify under the Americans with Disabilities Act. All County buses will eventually be equipped with special ramps for easy access by disabled persons. Wheelchair seating is also available. Users with special needs should call for schedules of buses that are specially equipped. Bus ID cards are issued at various locations throughout the County.

Tri-Rail offers paratransit service for the disabled with 24-hour advance notice for Tuesday through Friday, 48-hour notice for Saturday and 72-hour notice for Sunday and Monday. Shuttle service in Palm Beach County is provided by Palm Tran.

State of Florida driver's licenses may be obtained at the Florida Driver's Examining Station, 14570 S. Military Trail, Suite C3 in the Delray Square II Shopping Center. Offices are open Tuesday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. In order to obtain a Florida drivers license you must be at least 15 years of age (restricted permit). There are also additional restrictions placed on all drivers under 18 years of age. Parental consent and proof of age is required. A Florida driver's license is required within 30 days of moving into the state. Notice of address change is required within 10 days of moving. Call for information and appointments.

Most persons who are cited for traffic violations are given the option of attending driving school to avoid points on their driving record. Call for information and registration.
