Citizens and City staff, with the cooperation of the State of Florida, are striving to
make Boca Raton a "Bicycle and Pedestrian Friendly City" by establishing a
coordinated system of bicycle and pedestrian paths. Questions can be directed to the

The School Board (Board of Education) of Palm Beach County is charged with overseeing the
operation of all public elementary, middle and secondary schools in the County.
Board members are elected by Palm Beach County voters. The School Board's
administrative offices are located at 3300 Forest Hill Boulevard, West Palm Beach, 33406.
Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday except for designated
holidays.

The Palm Beach County Library System offers free mail service to readers who are
homebound, disabled, or lack transportation. City residents must purchase a County
library card to take advantage of this service. For more information, call Monday
through Friday between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The fiscal year for the City begins on October 1 of each year and ends on September 30
of the following year as mandated by Florida Statutes. Budget hearings are held in
September prior to adoption, and the public is encouraged to give their comments.
The budget can be reviewed in its entirety in the City Clerk's Office or at the City
Library. Budget questions should be directed to the Budget office.

The Building Inspection Division of Development Services is responsible for issuing
building permits. Before having work performed on your property, call to inquire if
a permit is needed. All permitted work is inspected by City personnel to assure
compliance with adopted building standards.

The City requires an occupational license for the privilege of engaging in or managing any business, profession or occupation within its jurisdiction, pursuant to the classifications and rates as provided in the City Code. All businesses and professional offices in Boca Raton must also obtain an occupational license from Palm Beach County.
